The Historical High Point of Today:

Former supervisor Dan White shot and killed homosexual rights activist Harvey Milk and San Francisco Mayor George Moscone (mah-SKOH’-nee) on November 27, 1978, inside City Hall. (White committed suicide in October 1985 after serving five years for manslaughter.)

This day:

Washington, D.C. hosted the founding of the U.S. Army War College in 1901.
