One tourist is killed and two are missing in an ice cave collapse in Iceland.

First responders were called on Sunday, according to local police, as a group of around twenty-five international visitors, from a variety of nations, were visiting ice caves when four of them were struck by ice.

While a party of visitors were exploring the Breidamerkurjokull glacier in southern Iceland, an ice cave partially collapsed, resulting in at least one death and two unaccounted-for deaths.

First responders were called just before 3 p.m. on Sunday as a group of around 25 international visitors from various nations were visiting ice caves when four persons were struck by ice, according to a social media statement from the local police.

Two individuals suffered severe injuries; one passed away at the scene of the collision, while the other was flown by helicopter to a hospital in the capital, where they were apparently receiving stable care.

Numerous rescuers spent the day and early evening looking for the two missing individuals. Because to the hazardous conditions, the operation was put on hold after nightfall, but police said it will pick back up in the morning.
