Airport has completely turned around from its previous reputation as one of the worst in the nation. According to a recent passenger poll, it is now the best airport of its size.
LaGuardia was voted the “best airport of 25 to 40 million passengers in North America” by the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) in 2023.
The acknowledgment signifies the accomplishment of a multibillion-dollar makeover at the Queens airport, which in only five years went from the worst to the finest.
Few people thought we could build the top-tier airport our area deserves when we first began our $8 billion makeover of LaGuardia. However, the ASQ award demonstrates that one must see to believe “On Monday, Port Authority Executive Director Rick Cotton released a statement.
Chief Executive Officer of LaGuardia Gateway Partners Suzette Noble remarked, “The ASQ award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of not only those who designed and built the new airport, but to those providing exceptional service each and every day.”
According to the Port Authority, 2023 was the first complete year that all passenger facilities at LaGuardia were in operation after the construction of new terminals and airport highways.
The improvements resulted in a 20% rise over 2018 survey results, with a 4.24 out of 5 rating for overall passenger satisfaction.
With increases of 21% and 15% over the previous five years, respectively, the airport’s atmosphere and facility cleanliness were the main factors contributing to the surge in customer satisfaction. The Port Authority listed food options, comfort of entrance areas, and security screening as further enhanced characteristics.
Throughout 2023, over 4,200 travelers filled out the Airport Service Quality survey at LaGuardia Airport gates.
Chairman of the Port Authority Kevin O’Toole said, “The passengers who use our new airports are the best judges of them, which is why the ASQ award for best airport going to LaGuardia is so meaningful.”
