Lions destroy Cowboys in their fourth consecutive home defeat.

The Dallas Cowboys suffered their fourth straight home loss since the previous postseason after being thrashed 47-9 by the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

The Lions were seeking retribution for their late-season 20-19 loss to Dallas, which was caused by a procedural infraction that negated a chance for a game-winning two-point convert.

Jared Goff, the quarterback for Detroit, completed 18 of 25 throws for 315 yards and three touchdowns. He was quite effective. A rushing assault that produced 184 yards and two touchdowns gave him confidence.

Halftime came and the game was pretty much gone. After two quarters, the Lions led 27-6, which continued a worrying trend for the Cowboys. Dallas has lost its opening half of its previous four home games, outscored 110-35. After losing to the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round of the playoffs, the Cowboys, who were 8-0 at home during the regular season, have been losing at home ever since.

Detroit exploited a dazed Dallas defense, particularly by destroying the Cowboys on the ground. The Lions were averaging over 5 yards per run on 32 rushing attempts and almost 8 yards per play overall before to their last offensive possession.

With a combined total of 24 rushes for 143 yards, running backs David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs were an unbeatable one-two punch on the ground. Montgomery’s toughness was evident as he pulled a defender to reach the end zone for Detroit’s game’s opening touchdown.

Before being replaced in the fourth quarter, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott had only thrown for 178 yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions. In addition, he had four job losses.

Prescott threw two interceptions for the third time in his season. This season, Prescott has only thrown three touchdowns and four interceptions in three home games.

The Cowboys lost, dropping them to third in the NFC East behind the Washington Commanders and the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Lions are now 4-1, but they still trail the Minnesota Vikings, who are unbeaten, in the NFC North. In the second half, they also suffered the misfortune of top pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson breaking his leg during a sack.

In Week 7, the Vikings and Lions will square off.

The Dallas Cowboys will take a week off before hosting the San Francisco 49ers on October 27.

Jerry Jones, the owner of the Cowboys, was questioned after the game about potential coaching changes.

Jones replied, “I haven’t even considered that,” in reference to maybe putting Mike McCarthy behind him. “You get it; I’m not thinking about that.”
