This morning, an Israeli military official said that the country’s armed forces had successfully thwarted a Hezbollah strike that was scheduled to occur in revenge for Israel’s killing of a senior Hezbollah commander last month.

Lt Col. Nadav Shoshani said in a briefing today that Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon have been getting ready to use thousands of rocket launchers to conduct a massive missile strike against northern Israel. He said that the operation was scheduled to start at five in the morning, but it was partially foiled by Israel’s preemptive strike.
According to Shoshani, Israel’s attack included 100 aircraft that attacked hundreds of Hez missile launchers spread over 40 launch points.
He said that Hez continued its goal, launching hundreds of missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) into northern Israel while leaving unaffected regions that housed people.
“This is a part of a larger attack that was planned,” Shoshani said, “and we were able to thwart a big part of it.”

HEZ claimed in a statement earlier today to have struck eleven targets, all of which were artillery sites, barracks, or military camps.
It was made evident by Shoshani that Israel considered Hezbollah’s intentions to be a grave danger to its civilian population. The lieutenant colonel said, “Israel will not tolerate Hezbollah’s attacks on our civilians, and we keep right to defend our people.”
He added it was unclear at this point if Hez had completed its intended offensive. He said, “We’re still assessing.”
