Costco’s organic eggs are being recalled due to possible salmonella contamination.

According to a press release on the Food and Drug Administration’s website, New York-based Handsome Brook Farms is recalling around 10,800 retail units of organic, pasture-raised, 24-count eggs sold under Costco’s Kirkland Signature brand.

Starting on November 22, the impacted cartons were offered for sale at 25 Costco locations in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

Only units with Julian code 327 and a “use by” date of January 6, 2025, are subject to the recall. The recall does not apply to any other items.

According to the announcement, Handsome Brook decided that eggs that weren’t meant for retailers were packed and delivered in retail packaging, which prompted the recall. According to the statement, retraining and other supply chain controls are being implemented to avert recurrence.’

No reports of sickness have been made thus far. In collaboration with the FDA, the recall is being carried out.

Customers who are impacted should either cease using the product and return any impacted units to their neighborhood Costco location for a complete refund, or they should throw the goods away.
